Bio

Nicole Fraser is a painter who lives in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Her work explores family and community life, set in the beauty and wonder of nature.

Born and raised in Coquitlam, B.C., Nicole was immersed in the Fine Arts while growing up. She studied French, Kinesiology and Linguistics at Simon Fraser University, and in her early twenties, became focused on painting. She attended Peter Aspell School of Art, and later as a young mother, attended Dundas Valley School of Art, Ontario.

Her French-Scottish-Canadian roots stretch back to 17th and 18th century Québec. The migration of family to Alberta, and later B.C., began in the early 1900's. As a Western francophone, cultural preservation as well as inclusivity and integration are ideas Nicole explores in her paintings.

After raising three children with her husband, Robert, she now divides her time between working in her garden and painting in her studio in the company of her two bulldogs, two cats, and her granddaughter.
